When I think about photography and why I like it so much, I’m constantly reminded about “the magic”. Those special moments that happen only once, in the blink of an eye when everything is just perfect. I sometimes get to be there for those moments, and sometimes we try hard to recreate them. A lot of couples try hard to recreate magic moments too, and their Pinterest boards are proof. I assure you though, it’s not as easy as it looks, nor does it happen as often as some would like to think. But as we develop as photographers, growing into our style and our equipment, I think the chances of catching those magical moments happen more often.
It didn’t take much to create the magic when we were with G & J. We had some ideas for this session and they jumped right in, not knowing where we were going with it but trusting us fully. The perfect calm summer night. Temperature, wind and light, they all came together for us. We’re going to go ahead and say this is just a teaser for how their wedding is going to be next August.
B and W are engaged. And when I think about them being engaged, I think about the epitome of love. It’s not that I don’t think that about most of the other wonderful couples we meet…but there’s something about this couple that screams summer love. We loved getting to know you! And we can’t wait for your wedding day.

We all know that sometimes time can pass in the blink of an eye. I feel that way often. I look through past photos, read old news articles and think about the years gone by. We’re still young though, but experiences keep piling up, like text books from university that we don’t know what to do with anymore. We can still draw a lot of information from those memories, but their usefulness doesn’t necessarily revert to their original intention (like exercise physiology text book used to level our bed). R & K slip into a special category for me, and flood my memory with all kinds of photos from years gone by. Years spent in their family pool and watching high school hockey stardom. What great memories those are, what great families you have.
It’s amazing to see how relationships develop, carved by time, words, emotions and feelings. I’m so happy that we can play a small part in making new memories for you R & K. This isn’t the beginning and this certainly isn’t the end. Much love to both of you as you prepare for life together.
